As the name suggests, the Furbo is a camera that allows you to watch your dog while you’re out of the house. But not only that chihuahua rat terrier mix you also have the opportunity to talk to your dog, give him treats via remote control/app and you will be notified if your dog barks.
How does it work?
It’s really super easy. Power your dog camera (power cord and adapter are included). Now the Furbo Dog Camera starts to light up at the bottom. Wait until the luminous color changes to green. Now the camera is ready for use. Install the “Furbo app” on your smartphone and create an account. The camera now connects to the app. Now you can place the Furbo Dog Camera in the place where your dog is (presumably) most likely to stay during your absence, or in a place from which the camera has as many rooms as possible in its sights. The Furbo Dog Camera has a 160 degree wide angle view.
Once you have positioned your camera, you can test the first functions right away.
Functions
Live stream
Of course, the live stream comes first. No matter where you are (provided you have a stable internet connection), you can see what your dog is doing. The Furbo has a resolution of 1080p Full HD and 4x digital zoom. So if you want to know more about it, you can simply zoom in on your dog.
Throw treats
A very funny gimmick is of course the function “throw treats”. Via app, the dog can be given treats. These are thrown out of the camera – of course, they have to be filled into the camera beforehand. How many there are, that’s up to the camera. Sometimes it’s one, sometimes it’s none, and sometimes there are several. Before each treat litter, the Furbo makes a noise, so that the dogs (as with classic conditioning) after several repetitions associate the sound with the treat league. It works wonderfully for both of them. They are in my office. I let the camera throw a treat and both storm into the living room so as not to miss it.

Talk
If you activate the microphone via the app, it is even possible to communicate with the dog. The sound is quite ok. However, this is not a feature that I personally use, so it’s perfectly fine.
Bell alarm
I think this is a very good and useful function. As soon as the camera notices a bark, the app sends a notification to the mobile phone. A look at the Furbo app reveals what the dog is doing and possibly why he barks.
Night vision
For the late hours or darker days, there is the night vision function, so that an insight into the world of the four-legged friend at home is guaranteed at all times.
Photo and video recordings
With just one click in the app, photos and videos of the current situation can be taken. Video recordings are limited to 60 seconds. This means that after 60 seconds the recording stops and a new recording can be started.
My experiences:
I now had a few days to test the Furbo Dog Camera with all its functions. It was really exciting to see what Wilma and Loriot are doing while I’m away. With Loriot I know it pretty well, because he has been living with me for over 9 years. What Wilma does, however, was new to me – except for the fact that in the meantime she “party” with her pillow and distributes the innards in the living room.
The functions of the camera are innovative and good. The app is super easy to set up and use. Throwing treats is fun for humans and types of terrier dogs. However, this camera does not replace solo training.
What I’m missing:
I’m missing an SD card slot with which the entire day can be recorded and, if necessary, checked what the dog did and when. But that’s the only thing.
So if you’ve always wanted to know what your dog is doing when you’re not at home, want to be notified when your dog barks to see what’s going on, and want to sweeten his time with a treat in between, then this camera is for you.
I wish you a lot of fun with your Furbo dog camera.
