Pick up fresh local produce at the farmer’s market

Mudgee’s best products can be found all in one place, which happens to be the beautiful Robertson Park, a lovely location to sample your way around the various stalls. The farmer’s market happens every 3rd Sunday of the month and is something that must not be missed.

Fresh produce, preserved delicacies – jams, cheeses, bread, and more are available for you to bring home. You can also enjoy freshly baked cakes, brewed coffee, and bacon, and egg rolls to keep you filled while going around the market.

Cool off at the Drip Gorge

The walk to the gorge is a beautiful one and a short walk at it. It’s perfect for anyone looking for a leisurely stroll and it’s wonderful from the first step to the last. It’s a great place to cool off on a hot day with shallow water rock holes. The path takes you through some spectacular bushland, with lush ferns that were almost luminous green after recent rain. As you follow the path towards The Drip, you have the river on one side and the tall gorge walls on the other.

Once you’ve enjoyed the view you can then carry on along the main trail for 300m more, into the gorge itself.

Following the trail down into the gorge you’ll find a series of rock pools and a faster flowing section of the river. This is best for a dip, the water is not deep enough for a swim, but it is perfect for cooling off.

Wander around historic buildings

Don’t miss out on the most touristy thing to do. Any Mudgee visit is not complete without exploring the charm of the historic country. Immerse in the rich history, the storied past, and the wonderful new foundation it has provided for the shops, accommodation, and dining places. Its architectural character has provided a different layer of interest to its new occupants.
